Larry,
Awesome, I really understand . It takes so much time for a balanced set and correct balance in the saddle. The body is everything, the seat is a must. I went to a riding clinic before I attempted to start to train as a bad rider makes a bad horse. People do not realize that in most countries outside the US. A lot of inspiring trainers that go to school to learn how to train are not allowed to touch the reins for two years, The best thing I ever did for my self was to take a very gentle horse and do a cutter punch and wind mill and body exercises for my timing. A person should be able to guide a horse with they're body with out ever touching the reins. I see so many people try to white knuckle a horse into collection. or ride standing in the stirrups. Or worse yet using the bit and reins for balance. I was out of shape, I was over weight and was not able to physically do what needed to be done. As well I thought I knew it all. A real Moron, One of theses kind Guys you think there is no help for. I thank God I had a horse humble me so much I broke down and said I do not know. I need to learn. That horse, is the best horse I have ever had and I am glad he was so forgiving of the Idiot that was on his back (ME)
I called up a Guy that I heard in a Horse Expo talk about how people need to train themselves before they ever should be able to touch a horse. That training is a process of you being the best you can be as a rider before you can help the horse. That most people do not understand that bad hands and balance work against everything a horse is trying to do.
I quit trying to train and started to learn. I did not tough the reins for 3 months, I did what I was told in this mans clinic, To my amazement, I started to have people complement me on my seat and how I rode. How good the horse looked when I was riding and I did not even have my hands on the reins. I hope you do not mind me giving someone a plug Larry as this man doesn't teach training like you do. He teaches riding, I would like to Thanks Mr, Richard Shake . He has helped me become a rider. And that is the first step in learning from one percenters ( top one percent riders in the US , like Larry) how to train. I truly believe if you think you know how to ride, Go to one of Richards clinics and see if you really do. You might get a dose of Humble pie. Yet at the same time . It will be the best thing you can ever do for a horse as YOU CAN NOT BE EFFECTIVE UNTIL YOU CAN RIDE, YOU CAN NOT GIVE A HORSE SOMETHING YOU DO NOT HAVE YOURSELF. A HORSE WILL NEVER LIE TO YOU. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT HE WILL SHOW YOU.
I still to this day ride about 10 minutes per day with out touching the reins doing exersises that look stuipid to the ignorant but to a horseman they understand. Tom Dorance tried to explain this as feel, and timing. Knowing where your body is in relation to the horse feet and gate. It takes time to develop. You will never have fell with out balance and a correct seat. I close my eyes and lope and trott in the arena counting the horses feet moving my hips with each move of the horse, Working on being one with his back, Letting the vibrations of his body come up through his legs into my body. All of the time with my eyes closed,( Only do this on a well trained horse,) Try this for a month strait with out doing any training and see what happens to your understanding of where your horse is in relation to your self, You will find out how it feels when he is droping a shoulder because you develop feel faster when your eyes are closed, You will know if the horse is no rounding his back, you will know if he is not using his rear end correctly. You will know if he is sore on a leg, I promise if you learn to ride with out your eyes, You will learn to communicate though your body and it will come faster than the years it takes to do it with your eyes open, Because your eyes let your mind get in the way of the horse,
Thank you for all of your help Larry.
I am so grateful for you. I wish I had every video you have put out. I will in time. And everything worth having is worth the sacrifice of paying for it.I will have everything you have put out in time.
Thanks for your help. Your lessons are the highlights of my day.

Larry,
Just finished the audio that explains the differences between training the cutting horse and reigning horse and it really underscores the point that correct horse training techniques cannot be learned or figured out by oneself, but are to be learned from an accomplished trainer. In addition, the “cueing the horse” audio puts things in perspective and takes some pressure off the learning process. Thanks.

Great advice, I've been working on this with my horse.

I enjoy listening to all your audios and written information. I plan on moving to Wyoming (from Iowa) when I graduate to go to college and learn training (part of Equine Business Management), and listening to this makes me a better trainer! I really appreciate it! I will be purchasing some of your DVD's in the future!

Do you have any information on teaching Leg Yielding? I can figure it out by myself, but it's always good to know from a professional before I start out.

Thank You!

I HAVE JUST LISTENED TO YOUR AUDIO ON HOW TO CUE YOUR HORSE, AFTER VIEWING WESTERN RIDING KNOW HOW I DECIDED TO DO IT IN THE STAGES AS YOU DESCRIBE IN YOUR AUDIO, I TAKE ONE OR TWO THINGS AND WORK ON IT FOR 20 TO 30 MINUTES AND BELIEVE ME AND WHEN MY BOY AND I FINISH WE ARE BOTH SMILING AND VERY RELAXED IT HAS BEEN GREAT FOR BOTH OF US AND HE GETS A CARROT AT THE END FOR BEING SUCH A GREAT STUDENT AND FRIEND. SO THE WORKING ON ONE THING AT A TIME SUCH AS SITTING IN THE SADDLE CORRECTLY WHILE JOGGING GREAT ADVICE ON AUDIO AND VIDEO, THANK YOU

I enjoy your lessons because you are a very good communicator. Some people are good horse trainers and the like, but cannot communicate their ideas well.
