A special message from trainer, Larry Trocha
I want to assure you the training equipment offered on this website are products that I believe in and use personally. You will see me using this exact same equipment in many of my training videos.
If you come to my training stable, you will see it in my tack room and on the horses I am riding. You can confidently invest in this training equipment knowing you are getting the real deal.
Sincerely,
Larry Trocha
As usual you do a great job of explaining things.
I would love to have 2 saddles to swap back and forth for frequent riding.
I have only had the use of one Western saddle that felt great, Bobs Custom Saddle. I looked them up and even USED they are way out of my price range ($2500 on average). I need a 16 inch ranch or trail saddle (I only ride trail) and my horse has a very WIDE back, high withers and a short back. He is also gaited.
Is there any company that makes a good saddle like what I need that isn’t going to cost thousands???
Hi Nan,
Unfortunately, no.
Just the raw leather and bare tree costs a thousand.
Even a treeless bareback pad with stirrups costs more than you want to spend.
I’m guessing you’ll next check out those cheap saddles imported from Mexico.
Those saddles are dangerous!
The rigging isn’t securely attached to the tree. A wreck waiting to happen.
I watched your saddle videos and in the one you mentioned and showed your favorite pad which was felt with a fleece underside. Who is the maker of that pad and where can I purchase one?

Thank you!!!!
i would like to know if you take outside horses to train?
Hi Tammie,
Yes, I do.
Go to the “About” page on this website and you’ll see a link to my “horse training” page.
What saddle do you ride in? I was looking to buy Martins performance saddle.
Hi Lisa,
Be sure to watch this video before you buy ANY saddle.
You’ll be surprised by what you learn.

Hi Larry. Just finished viewing your series of videos on choosing the correct saddle. The videos were clear and amazingly informative. I now understand the importance of being able to sit down in a stop. To assist with that you need a low profile, properly fitted saddle with a flattened seat, high cantel and stirrups that are positioned slightly forward of where you would find them on a typical saddle. The information was extremely helpful to me and I am very grateful for your help.
Glad you liked it, Ernest.
Nice to hear.
Hi Larry
I do trail riding and would like to know which would be the best bit to use. I read up on them and it looks like the Billy Allen 8 inch. but want to make sure. I ride in a snaffle bit but have found when I ride with a lot of other horses she likes to push on the mouth piece. She gets real excited and takes awhile for her to calm down. So I put her in a Correction Mouth piece and she does better. Just not sure which one to use all the time.
Hi Jennifer,
I depends on what you want to achieve.
The Billy Allen is a mild curb bit and the correction mouthpiece is a more severe bit.
Hi Larry, My husband has been watching you and is interested in the iron bosal. He has a great stud that is in need of a bit more control. Where can we find one?
When and where do you travel for clinics?
Thank you,
Sara
Hi Sara,
With much respect, I must decline.
That iron bosal can be an instrument of torture in the wrong hands.
Larry T.
Thank you!
