LARRY TROCHA’S CUTTING HORSE CLINICS
Clinics will be held at Larry Trocha’s Training Stable in Acampo, California.
Each clinic will consist of three days of INTENSIVE instruction.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL LEARN…
- How to ride, tune and show a cutting horse.
- How to read cattle.
- How to separate and drive a cow out of the herd.
- How to confidently sit the big stop and fast turn.
- How to jockey a horse with just your seat and legs.
- How to tune and prepare a cutting horse to show.
- Riding & showmanship skills for cutting competition.
At these clinics, I’m also going to cover many of the little, overlooked, horsemanship skills that get left out of most clinics.
And to tell you the truth, it’s the little things that add up to make a big difference in your riding.
Without exaggerating, I promise you will markedly IMPROVE and you’ll learn things at my clinics that you WON’T get ANYWHERE else.
The instruction you receive here will be ABSOLUTELY EYE-OPENING… I promise you that.
I should also point out that you will get plenty of INDIVIDUAL attention.
Each clinic will be limited to a very small group of people (4 to 6). The experience will be even better than private, one-on-one instruction.
For those of you who want to do some sight-seeing while you’re here, my training stable is just a short drive from the famous Napa Valley wine country.
You could have a great time spending a day touring all the wineries.
Also, San Francisco is only a ninety-minute shuttle bus ride away. You could spend a day touring China Town, Fisherman’s Warf and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Motels, restaurants and rental cars are available just a few miles away. The shuttle bus that runs to the San Francisco and Oakland airports is close by too.
All in all, this could be a very fun trip.
REQUIREMENTS OF ELIGIBILITY… You must read this!
You must be in good health to attend this clinic and be aware of the risks. All activities that involve horses are risky but “cutting” is even more so because of the quick stops and fast moves that the horses make.
You must “physically” be in half-way-decent condition. If you are “extremely” overweight, extremely frail or have a serious medical condition, you should NOT participate.
You must be a fairly GOOD rider to participate in this clinic. By that, I mean you should be able to gallop a horse at speed without fear of losing your balance and falling off.
If you need to have a death-grip on the horn to keep from bouncing out of the saddle, this clinic is NOT for you.
In other words, you don’t have to be a great rider but you do need to be able to ride WELL.
I would recommend you have at least 3 years of riding experience (preferably more).
That means you’ve ridden a minimum of three hours a week, for a total time of 450 hours in the saddle.
By the way, all participants are required to sign a “release of liability” document.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- No riders under the age of 18 (unless accompanied by a parent).
- No dogs allowed.
CLINIC DATES
- June
- July
- August

TUITION FOR THE CLINIC
Tuition for each clinic will be announced.
Lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided all three days.
I will provide you with a good cutting horse and all the gear you will
need to participate.
Your motel reservations will be YOUR responsibility. We can offer some suggestions as to where to stay.
If you plan on renting a car, I recommend Enterprise. I’ve used them before and the service was great.
Clinic size is limited so registration will be on a first come, first served basis.
Tuition may be paid via credit card or check and must be “paid in full”. I can not reserve a spot for you unless the full tuition is paid in advance.
Upon registering, I will need to know your height and weight.
I know…I know… weight can be a touchy subject but I need to make sure I have
the right sized saddle and horse for you to ride.
I will also need a brief description of the type of riding you do and how long you’ve been doing it.
Okay, that about wraps it up.
To register or if you have questions, call my assistant, Bev at…
1-800-811-4883
She is available between the hours of 8am and 8pm Pacific Time.
If Bev is on the other line or away from the phone, leave a message so she can call you back.
I should also mention, I’m doing a Back to Basics Reining Horse Clinic this year.
That’s all for now, I hope to hear from you soon.
Take care,
Larry Trocha
