Morning Mr. Trocha
I would love to know why that horse knelt down

Hi Larry . I’ve got some confusion about how leg aids are used in western riding vs English riding . I am an NBHA barrel racer and I want my horse to travel around the barrel in 4 wheel drive, not pivoting on the inside hind leg . I want that inside hind reaching up and under the horse while moving forward. In English riding you are taught to get the horse to do this by using your inside leg at the girth, bending or turning your horse around your inside leg. All the western riding videos I’ve watched , including yours , turn the horse using the outside leg. In my schooling sessions I would like to do the right thing for my barrel horse. Any thoughts on this to clear up my confusion ? Many barrel racers out there would greatly appreciate it. Thank you , Kim
When it comes to horsemanship, nothing is written in stone.
Use whatever technique works best for you and your horse.
COLT STARTING SECRET ABOUT GOOD STOPS
Hi Larry
100% with you a lot of trainers told the people to loop the horse from the first ride “he needs to know it”. Your way is the better way let him be comfortable before he loops the first time with a rider.
I struggle with my young horse about the big stop and your online video help me a lot to improve. I can 100% recommend all your training videos.
The most trainer shows their best horse in the video and the final result are great. We as no pro or amateur trainer what to know the way and how it works and what we need to do, when we have some issues in the training. That the final result is good by the pro trainer, we can see it at the shows and we know it. The secrets from a good trainer to show and teach is, when some problems need to be fixed and how you can fix it.
The bad things from my side are, I live in Europe and I don´t have the chance to participate at some of your live training. If you plan a trip to Europe let me know I can help you if you like.
Best wish from Europe to Larry
PS: He folks, you see Larry Trocha is also well known outside of US

I dont know how to respond so others might see this, but I’ll just send this to you…if I can comment correctly for others to see, please tell me how.
First, I agree 100% with your position regarding the issue with Sue’s horse. I would like her and others to hear about an incident I had with a client who could easily have written the same words that Sue wrote. I was asked to help with a horse who had been ‘abused’. The lady owner was a very loving woman who adored animals but had no idea how animals learn nor relate to people. Two sessions with her told me I was fighting a losing battle. She refused to see that an animal would not respond to her gestures of ‘love and affection’, but operate from an entirely different frame of reference. Even this lady’s dogs were totally out of control. She told me I was too harsh with the horse and refused to listen to anything I said. I bowed out of that arrangement as gracefully as possible, with a warning, and an explanation that my opinion was she was going to get hurt, and I did not want her or anyone else claiming that it was my fault.
Two weeks later, she was kicked in the stomach, and her spleen was lacerated. She almost died, but was able to crawl to a phone and summon 911. They Flight-for-Life’ed her out and she has undergone several surgeries. I believe that poor horse was euthanized because it was ‘dangerous’.
I would strongly suggest to everyone to please listen to Mr. Torcha’s words.
Ron.
I just finished watching the first video on saddles. Very informative and good looking saddles. I really like the ranch cutter. Looking forward to tomorrow’s video
Really enjoyed the article. Very good advice.
Do you have any sample video to view? Regarding Reining, thanks
Sure. Click the “Free Training” link in the blue menu bar at the top of this page.
I have a very well broke, quiet, sweet guy who has been shown as well as trail ridden for many miles, Never refusing water or tricky crossing etc. After bridling with no problems whatsoever he gets a little spooky and dances around. Doesn’t take off but dances around enough that I took a bad fall. I tried the one rein stop which I practice with him and it usually works in practice, not in theory! Any help? Again so out of character and nothing that would of caused him to spook.
