Hi Larry

That was very good newsletter, I especially liked the the part about trainers. I have worked with a few trainers and unfortunately I learned the hard way, but i never gave up on horses. I know there is alot of people that give up because they have been misled or screwed over by trainers. It is sad, One of the trainers is highly recomended in this area but like you talked about it seems there is always a red flag if you just know what to look for.
Tanks for all your honesty

Great newsletter Larry, one thing i notice though is the monthly training costs seem to be the same throughout the industry no matter what the discipline or who is doing the training. The extra costs you mention when using a reputable trainer are worth every penny especially if your horse has good bloodlines and may have a bright future ahead of them. Without the proper foundation you may never know what a well bred horse is capable of, and the biggest mistake a owner can make is to think it can happen in 2-3 months of training... The extra costs of sending your "well bred horse" to a very reputable trainer strongly out weigh the additional costs associated with not doing it...
.
. Gary

Larry,
I am devoted to bettering my self to being a student of the horse until the day I keel over .( I hope I am riding when I do. I have fast tracked through learning by one way and one way only. Riding my horses day in and day out. In doing so I constantly am developing timing and feel for the horses mind and body. There ARE no easy ways around it. I am in the saddle until 10 pm to 11 pm after working all day long. Riding each ride as perfect as I can.
When I am not riding I am reading a book. Or watching a video. Before I go to sleep I read True Unity every night knowing that my sub conscience will think about horse when I sleep.
I have read the book over 2000 times and always get something new to think about.
For my Vacation I go to clinics. For me if your mind is not on it your heart is not on it. And if you do not have to pay dearly for it with your time and money you never are grateful when you get it. I have read every book you have mentioned. But reading it needs application. Unfortunately , most people talk but the walk is where it comes together.
Thanks for the great training tips,
Tom

Hi Larry,
I LOVE what you wrote about mindset! It is so true, not even just with horse training, but life in general. As a elementary teacher I see this in the kids I teach. As a mother of a child with ADD I see this in the work he produces or doesn't produce. The key to teaching ANYTHING or any discipline of riding is setting your mind to it. The horse can sooooo feel and sense what you are thinking! In my eyes I have accomplished a lot in my riding career now of 24 years but I STILL learn from my mistakes and know I will never know or have learned everything I can. That is the FUN in riding! Take care and keep the honest articles coming!!!!!
